Goals
NFER is a non-profit organization which encourages research, supports fellowships for young scientists, and sponsors national and international meetings and workshops to find the cause and to develop a non-surgical treatment for cataracts.
To encourage the development of non-surgical treatment for cataracts, the NFER:
- Provides grants to researchers who wish to initiate, continue, or expand investigations into the causes of cataracts
- Supports fellowships to encourage young scientists to begin careers in cataract research
- Acts as a clearinghouse for cataract-related scientific information
- Sponsors national and international meetings, including workshops on cataract research
